Myrmidon

MYRMIDON built at Scotts Shipbuilding Go. Ltd., Greenock,1980, 16,482gt, 540 feet. Launched on 19th February 1980 was the last vessel built for Ocean in a British yard, and indeed the last but one ever built for the company.

From June until November 1982 she was requisitioned by the Ministry of Defence for the Falklands conflict. Renamed CAPE TOWN CARRIER in 1984 and BELLO FOLAWIYO in 1986. Ocean managed her until 1989, then sold her to Cenargo Ltd. to become CMB EXPORTER, MERCHANT PROMISE between 1990 - 1994 and LANKA AMILA. A company related to Tamahine Shipping bought her in 1994 and in July 1998 she was trading as TAMAMONTA.
