"Lairig" - pronounced "lah-rig," is the Gaelic word for a pass between hills. There are a number of these in the Highlands of Scotland. "Lairig Ghru" is the classic walk through a deep mountain pass through the wild Cairngorm mountains, cutting this range in two.
