The land on which Lairig Cottage (formerly Beaumaris) is built was feued to Cornelius Stevenson by the trustees of the deceased William Findlay on the twentyfifth day of March 1895. The property stayed in that family till 13^th November 1927 when it was recorded in the name of Miss Isabella Peebles Fenton, School Teacher. In 1937 Miss Annie Burrell Smith became the new owner till 1974 when it was sold to the Mastertons.

1997 saw the house on the property market. It was sold but for sale again in 1998. It was at this time that we bought the house.
